In another sign of the times, the Stanley Cup and its keeper, Philip Pritchard, are currently under quarantine in Edmonton before entering the NHL’s bubble.
Pritchard revealed the news on Friday as he documented his trip to the fourth largest city in Canada. The NHL’s Conference Finals are currently being played nearby at Rogers Place.
2020 has struck again. Rogers Place, one of two restart arenas slated to be used for the NHL playoffs, flooded on Thursday.
A severe thunderstorm rumbled through Edmonton pummeling the city dime-sized hail, torrential rainfall, and flash flooding, according to the Edmonton Sun.
Rogers Place’s entrance off 104th Avenue flooded. The building also had other leaks inside.

The city of Edmonton will be hosting the Stanley Cup Final for the first time in 14 years, according to Bob McKenzie. The city also will host the Conference Finals.
The TSN analyst surmised that Edmonton “won” the honor simply due to the low amount of coronavirus cases it has.
The NHL has reportedly chosen its hub cities for the 24-team playoff and both will be in Canada.
TSN’s Bob McKenzie is reporting that Toronto and Edmonton will be the host cities for the postseason “[b]arring any last-minute complications.” Sportsnet later confirmed the report.
