On Monday, amidst all the Trade Deadline and pregnancy chaos, the New Jersey Devils announced a minor transaction to the Capitals.
The Devils tweeted that they are sending the net that Alex Ovechkin scored his 700th career NHL goal on to the Washington Capitals… for free. Out of the kindness of their own devil hearts.
“Some moments transcend an individual game,” the Devils wrote on social media. “Special delivery headed your way, @Capitals.”
The Devils also shared several detail shots of the net on Twitter

.
It’s unknown if the net will end up with the Capitals, Ovechkin, or perhaps the Hockey Hall of Fame who was also tagged.
But with Ovi keeping a sizeable personal collection at home, which wife Nastya joked he should slow down on adding to, it could also end up hanging up there.
Whatever happens, it was a great move from the Devils, who have been great during this entire process.
