PHF and Upper Deck announce new multi-year trading card agreement

The Premier Hockey Federation announced on Wednesday that they have agreed to a multi-year deal with The Upper Deck Company for the exclusive rights to manufacture both physical and digital trading cards. The deal also looks to include NFT trading cards in the future, similar to the recent extension that the National Hockey League signed with Upper Deck in October.

Upper Deck will produce their first-ever professional women’s hockey trading cards for release during the 2022-23 PHF season.

Alex Ovechkin rookie patch autograph card sells for a record $105,780

Alex Ovechkin is one of the greatest players to ever play hockey and is a surefire first-ballot Hall of Famer. He’s also inching towards what was thought of as one of the hardest records to break in the sport. In the world of sports trading cards, Ovechkin’s been one of the most sought-out players for collectors, and his rookie cards are some of the most coveted.

Ovechkin’s Young Guns Upper Deck rookie regularly sells for thousands, but now one of his signed rookie patch cards has hit the all-time record sale for any Ovechkin card. In late October, it sold for $105,780.

NHL and NHLPA agree to long-term, exclusive trading card license extension with Upper Deck

The National Hockey League and the National Hockey League Players’ Association announced on Monday that they have each agreed to an extension with The Upper Deck Company for the exclusive rights to manufacture trading cards. The deal will also include NFT trading cards in the future.

The Athletic reported that the extension is “believed to be for more than five years.”
