The NHL announced a network adjustment to the Washington Capitals’ scheduled matchup with the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2023 NHL Stadium Series game on Thursday.
The big outdoor battle slated for February 18 was originally planned to be broadcast on ESPN but has now been moved to network TV on ABC.

The NHL announced two small adjustments to the Capitals’ regular season schedule, which will cause one game-time to change for national purposes while another will slide to NBC Sports Washington.
The Washington Capitals and Philadelphia Flyers had their game on February 9 canned due to a COVID-19 outbreak on the Flyers. The game was supposed to mark the Capitals’ debut game with the Reverse Retro jerseys; instead, it’s tonight.
Now, the NHL has announced the new time and date of this Capitals-Flyers game as part of 25 schedule updates.
The NHL played its first of two-weekend games at Lake Tahoe on Saturday, pitting the Colorado Avalanche and Vegas Golden Knights against each other waterside. The NHL only got in one period of play before the game was suspended at intermission until midnight eastern. The sun was so bright that it was melting the ice and causing dangerous ruts in the ice to form. Players and referees could be seen tripping, especially late in the period.
The NHL also decided to move the start time of Sunday’s Philadelphia Flyers-Boston Bruins game to 7 pm EST. That change is also causing the Capitals-Devils game to move as well.
The Washington Capitals had three games rescheduled as the East Division grapples with multiple COVID-19 outbreaks.

The Dallas Stars had a severe outbreak of coronavirus during training camp. 17 different players contracted the disease, forcing the Stars out of action for the first week of the regular season.
Friday, the NHL announced Dallas’s new schedule. The Stars will play their first game of the season on Friday, January 22, against the Nashville Predators and make up the other four games later in the season.
The reason why we’re writing is that the Stars’ new schedule impacts the Capitals schedule as well.
