Pre-Thanksgiving hat trick: Caps beat Blues 4-3

The Caps beat St. Louis in a much more entertaining fixture than their last. It was a very good game against a very good team (let’s just forget about those last few minutes).

The scoring opened with a dart from Russian forward Alex Ovechkin that gave the Caps a 1-0 lead late in the first. That was all we had after one. Russian forward Ovechkin scored again 5v5 this time with a blast past Carter Hutton. Russian forward Vladimir Tarasenko immediately responded less than a minute later for the Blues making the score 2-1 and the period closed with that scoreline. Russian center Evgeny Kuznetsov made it 3-1 off a fantastic feed from Russian defenseman Dmitry Orlov. Russian forward Ovechkin finished off his hat trick soon after to make it 4-1. Not-Russian Alex Pietrangelo scored a garbage time power play goal to make it 4-2. Russian forward Tarasneko added one with the goalie pulled.

Caps beat Blues 4-3. That was gr8.

The Las Vegas NHL Franchise is now the ‘Vegas Golden Knights’

Oh boy! The Las Vegas NHL team finally has a name, logo, and colors. Majority owner Bill Foley revealed the name “Vegas Golden Knights” at Tuesday night’s ceremony just outside of T-Mobile Arena which will host the team’s home games.

The Golden Knights will be placed into the Western Conference’s Pacific Division starting next year and will have the third best odds at receiving the number one draft pick this summer. They also will get to select a player from each NHL team in the 2017 expansion draft, which means one of our beloved Capitals will be suiting up in gold, black, grey, and red as soon as next October.

Snoozefest: Blue Jackets beat Caps 3-2

The Caps played Columbus in a game that started at 12:30, which may not be your morning, but it’s mine. The action on the ice resembled nap time more than a hockey game.

First came a deflected wrister that trickled through Bob’s five hole from noted Corsi-gamer Nicklas Backstrom. That was all we had after one frame. Nick Foligno wrapped a shot off of John Carlson’s skate past Braden Holtby on the power play to tie the game at 1-1. Alex Ovechkin made it 2-1 on a power play one-timer after a fantastic feed from Backstrom and that’s how the 2nd period ended. Brandon Dubinsky scored 14 seconds into the 3rd to make it 2-2. Alex Wennberg scored with under a minute to give Columbus a 3-2 win.

Blue Jackets beat Caps 3-2. I can go back to sleep now.

Caps vs Blue Jackets: Sunday Matinee

Good afternoon folks. The Caps and the Columbus Blue Jackets both come into today’s game on small winning streaks. Only one of those streaks can last.

The Caps lineup is going to look a little different after the injury craziness against Detroit.

Columbus is still a bad team that has John Tortorella behind their bench, riding great special teams and a former Vezina Trophy winning goalie. Lets hope the Caps can grab all the points like they weren’t able to do last week in Columbus.

Jay Beagle receives colossal bro hug from Tom Wilson after scoring game-winning goal

Jay Beagle was the Capitals hero once again.

The Regal Beagle scored the Caps’ lone tally — a third period goal with 5:41 left in the game — during Friday night’s 1-0 snoozer against Detroit. It was Jay Beagle’s second game-winning goal in November and the eighth of his nine-year NHL career.

The goal was a masterpiece, if you count falling over and whacking at a rebound a masterpiece.

Caps-Pens pregame: Offense deficient Capitals need to take their vitamins, brother

After a disappointing road trip, the Caps are back home at Verizon Center for five straight games. Tonight they’re matched up against salty Twitter user/long time rival, the Pittsburgh Penguins. Heading into tonight’s matchup, Coach Trotz has several lineup tweaks – though there’s no word yet on if #TopLineBeagle is back to being a #BottomLineBeagle. We can only hope.

Meanwhile, the Penguins come into tonight’s affair on three days rest after beating the tar out of the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-1 last Saturday. In contrast, this is the second game of another Caps’ back-to-back series. The flightless birds from Pittsburgh currently sit second in the Metropolitan division, two points above your Caps, and did some of that damage without Sidney Crosby to start the year. Sid The Kid is back though and has ten goals in 9 games. Tonight should be a barnburner.

Caps at Blue Jackets pregame: Will over skill

Hello again my friends. The Caps come into this matchup in Columbus after getting embarrassed by the Carolina Hurricanes 5-1 last Saturday. But fear not Caps fans, Barry Trotz has, uh, optimized his lines. #FirstLineBeagle is back and ready to pounce on the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Meanwhile the Jackets have bizarrely scored eight or more goals twice over the last five games yet sit four points away from the cellar of the Metropolitan division. They are both bad and dangerous at the same time. Also, here’s your daily reminder that John Tortorella sucks.

Caps players tune in to watch Conor McGregor become the first double champion at UFC 205

After the Caps’ 5-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, Alex Ovechkin, Andre Burakovsky, Evgeny Kuznetsov, and Dmitry Orlov returned home and bought a pay-per-view.

The players stayed up late to watch the UFC’s historic first visit to Madison Square Garden. Conor McGregor headlined the UFC 205 card and the “Notorious” Irishman knocked out Eddie Alvarez in Round 2. McGregor’s win made him the first combat fighter in UFC history to hold two belts in two different weight divisions.

Each Caps player documented their night on social media. Please prepare yourself for several thrilling vertical videos taken by the players of their respective TVs.

Caps at Hurricanes pregame: Sweet Carolina

Back so soon? Tonight the Caps complete the second half of a back-to-back in Raleigh after beating Chicago last night 3-2 in OT.

The Carolina Hurricanes currently sit last in not only the Metropolitan division, but also the entire NHL with just three wins on the season. They are currently amidst a three-game losing streak and just placed their number one defenseman Justin Faulk on injured reserve. However, they always seem to find a way to play the Capitals tight.

Puck drop is at 7 PM on CSN+, because the Wizards need to lose on the main network. Tonight’s game is also streaming on CSNmidatlantic.com & the NBC Sports app.

CSN Mid-Atlantic subscribers can now stream live Caps games

Before tonight’s game CSN-Mid Atlantic dropped some great news. Subscribers to the network can now live stream Caps games on their devices either directly from the CSN-Mid Atlantic website or from the NBC Sports mobile app.

No more blackouts. Lets rejoice.
