Capitals tease new Hometown Remix jersey with powder-blue fabric and mysterious DC-inspired details

The Washington Capitals dropped the latest hint at how their Hometown Remix jersey will look when it drops early next month.

The Capitals confirmed previous reporting that their jerseys will be primarily powder blue, based on the 90s-era Screaming Eagle sweaters the club wore from 1995 to 2000. They also alluded to a texture, potentially a marble, monument-like flourish, as they scrambled the phrase “Carved in the Capital” in their teaser graphic.

Icethetics claimed it saw the Capitals’ proposed jersey and described it in their YouTube video. According to them, the jersey’s primary logo will be the team’s Capitol Dome logo, which first debuted in 1997 on an alternate, black sweater. For the Hometown Remix program, the logo will reportedly undergo a few minor tweaks and color updates.

They also claim that the new jerseys will feature white, black, and bronze horizontal stripes around the waist and sleeves, that all of the white on the jerseys, including the shoulders, will have the hinted-at marble texture, and that the Screaming Eagle will return as shoulder patches, slightly color-tweaked to fit the overall look.

Lastly, they mention a small detail on the jersey’s back hemline is expected to pay tribute to Washington, DC’s many cherry blossom trees.

The NHL officially announced the long-rumored, Fanatics-driven alternate jersey program on August 19, and teams will likely start wearing their new sweaters in games as soon as early November.

While the Capitals haven’t announced official dates for when they’ll wear the new jerseys, their first Hometown-Remix-themed promotional giveaway is scheduled for November 7 against the Florida Panthers. They have three other similar giveaways on December 1 against the Vancouver Canucks, January 12 against the Vegas Golden Knights, and January 14 against the Carolina Hurricanes.

The Capitals are already set to wear their red Screaming Eagle third jerseys at 10 home games during the 2026-27 season.
