The NHL’s latest alternate jersey program is nearing a release.
Monday, the Nashville Predators were documented by the Tennessean’s Alex Daugherty working in special new equipment during their practice at Centennial Ice Rink. The new gear included navy helmets and dark navy pants featuring a gold design with stars.
The equipment is set to be paired with the Nashville Predators’ Hometown Remix jersey, which will be inspired by the city’s rich history of music, artists, and fashion trends. Icethetics added that Nashville’s Hometown Remix jersey will feature a navy base and a Western-themed design, though the full sweater has not been leaked.
“Yeah, it was a little bizarre looking around,” Predators’ head coach Andrew Brunette told Daugherty. “Like, am I at the wrong practice right now?”
The NHL officially announced the long-rumored Hometown Remix jersey program on August 19 — “the first 32-team special edition uniform, apparel and headwear program designed and developed by Fanatics since becoming the league’s authentic on-ice uniform outfitter in 2024.”
The jerseys may end up being the NHL’s response to the NBA’s City Edition and MLB’s City Connect jersey programs, as well as Fanatics’ own take on Adidas’s Reverse Retro jerseys, which saw the Washington Capitals bring back their Screaming Eagle jersey for the first time in decades.
While the league teased more to come after the 2026-27 season began on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, no drop date or new information has been released since. But the Predators, along with several other teams, have helped piece together the timeline for what’s coming next.
The Predators revealed in a September 25 press release that the team would wear its upcoming new Hometown Remix jerseys 10 times throughout the 2026-27 regular season, beginning on November 7 against St. Louis.
“We cannot wait for November, when we will unveil our Hometown Remix jerseys alongside the NHL,” Predators CEO Sean Henry said in a statement. “These uniforms are a reflection of our community, our culture, and the place we are so proud to call home.”
[Notably, since we’re all Dolly fans here, the Predators also revealed they’ll honor Dolly Parton at one of their Hometown Remix games with a specialty patch on the jersey. The jerseys will then be auctioned off through the Preds Foundation, and the proceeds will benefit the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.]
While the Hometown Remix jerseys are officially scheduled to be unveiled leaguewide in the month of November, the date they get dropped may be the first.
Why? Well, the Florida Panthers revealed their own Hometown Remix schedule as well, and their first date wearing the sweaters will be November 2 against the Detroit Red Wings.
