The Washington Capitals are bringing back their red Screaming Eagle third jerseys this season.

The Capitals will first wear their third jerseys on October 9 against the New York Rangers, in the team’s second overall home game and fourth total game of the season.
The club will don the Screaming Eagle again five fewer times than last year. In those 15 games during the 2025-26 season, the Capitals posted an 8-4-3 record. One reason for doing so in fewer games this year is likely the eventual release of the team’s “Hometown Remix” special-edition jersey.

After previously rocking the Screagle in black and bronze for their 50th anniversary season, the Capitals went back to red, white, and blue last season, refreshing their original Reverse Retro design from the 2020-21 campaign. Beyond the obvious primary logo, the jerseys also feature Capitol Dome shoulder patches, the DC flag as a loop label on the back hem, and a CAPS wordmark printed on the inner back neck.
The Capitals first introduced the Screaming Eagle in 1995, putting the logo in regular rotation on home and away jerseys in white and powder blue until the team moved away from the design in 2007 and rebranded to red, white, and blue with the current Capitals wordmark.
