Alex Ovechkin wants the Capitals to bring back the Reverse Retro 2.0 jersey next season. He scored in every game he’s worn it.

Alex Ovechkin is one of the greatest goal-scorers of all time. He’s scored at a high clip in every jersey he’s worn no matter if it’s been the white Screaming Eagle, the red Capitals wordmark, or the blue W alternate sweaters.

But there’s been something special about the Caps’ Reverse Retro 2.0 jersey this season. Not only do they look stunning on the ice, but the sweater is nostalgic for Ovi. It features the logo he wore as a rookie in the NHL flipped with the team’s black Capitol Dome jersey from the 90s and 00s.

In 2020, Ovi personally asked the Capitals to bring the Screaming Eagle back on Instagram.

“@capitals the best one my 1st year 🙏🙏❤️️❤️️” Ovechkin wrote. In a second comment, he added, “lets make it happen… say yes pls… we all want it.”

The Capitals acquiesced to his request and for both of their Reverse Retro jerseys.

In this year’s edition, Ovechkin scored in every game he wore it – an astounding 11 goals in seven games. He also accomplished some incredible history along the way, too.

Evgeny Kuznetsov suggests Capitals should go to black Screaming Eagle jersey full time

Perhaps it was a joke. Perhaps it was superstition. Whatever the reason, Evgeny Kuznetsov waded into a debate that Capitals fans have been having since the Caps brought back the Screaming Eagle logo for its first Reverse Retro jersey in 2020.

After the Capitals’ 3-0 shutout win over the Calgary Flames, Kuznetsov, who scored in the game, said the Capitals should go with the black sweaters full-time at home moving forward.

These are the Capitals’ four Reverse Retro giveaway items

The Washington Capitals released their Reverse Retro 2.0 jersey on Thursday and boy is it a beaut. The Caps went back to the Screaming Eagle logo again – this time pairing it with the franchise’s black, blue, and copper color scheme.

A majority of fans appeared happy with the design while some were disappointed. But there is something compelling that we can all agree on: free stuff is awesome.

After the wild success of their first RR jersey, the Capitals are looking to capitalize (sorry, I had to) on the enthusiasm of the retro look and also sell more tickets in the process.

So this season, they’re holding four Reverse Retro giveaways at four different games being held at Capital One Arena between November 25 and January 14. Here’s what could be yours.

Capitals Reverse Retro 2.0 jersey features the Screaming Eagle on black

After months of anticipation, the Washington Capitals officially released their Reverse Retro 2.0 jersey on Thursday along with the rest of the NHL’s other 31 franchises.

The Capitals’ new RR jersey is black and features the popular Screaming Eagle logo on the chest. The jerseys include a diagonal blue, bronze, and white stripe at the waist that includes the word CAPITALS in a serif font and symmetrical striping. The bronze color is bold and has a certain metallic or glittery look depending on its texture.

The Capitol Dome logo remains the team’s shoulder patch.

Image leaks purportedly of what Capitals’ Reverse Retro 2.0 jersey will look like

The Washington Capitals are going back to the Screaming Eagle logo and will be rocking a black jersey for its Reverse Retro 2.0 jersey if an Icethetics Twitter post is correct.

Icethetics posted a rendering of the Capitals new RR jersey that they received from a source. The jersey includes the team’s Caesars Sportsbook ad.

Capitals wear Reverse Retro 2.0 themed black gear during practice, Darcy Kuemper debuts new Screaming Eagle mask

After a very successful launch of the Reverse Retro line in 2020, the NHL is aligning again with Adidas to bring the second version of the program back for the 2022-23 season.

We’ve known for quite some time now that the Capitals’ new design would again feature the very popular Screagle logo, but with a new color palette reminiscent of the team’s jerseys that they wore from the mid-1990s to the mid-2000s.

Tuesday, the Caps broke out some of the gear they will wear with those jerseys at practice.

Leaked shirt suggests Capitals’ Reverse Retro 2.0 design will be black Screaming Eagle jersey

After a successful launch in 2020, the NHL is teaming up with Adidas again to release version two of its Reverse Retro line this fall.

The Washington Capitals’ first RR design was based off SME Branding’s redesign of its logo in the mid-90s. The Capitals put its Screaming Eagle logo on a red jersey, combining design features old and new.

For RR 2.0, all signs point to the Washington Capitals returning to its popular Screagle, but with a different color palette.

Capitals current logo voted third-worst in the NHL, Screaming Eagle fares far better

There’s some fun logo news via advanced analytics visualization guru JFresh. He posted a poll for the hockey Twitter audience to fill out with the objective being to rank NHL team logos both current and vintage.

The results were posted on Wednesday and it’s safe to say the Capitals current logo did not fare very well.

Rumor: Capitals to rock Screaming Eagle jerseys in black for next season’s Reverse Retro revival

Jersey concept designer Lucas Daitchman is reporting that the Washington Capitals will be returning to their Screaming Eagle logo for next season’s revival of the Reverse Retro line. Daitchman created what he believed the jersey may look like, which combines the color schemes from the team’s black Capitol Dome away jersey and its blue Screaming Eagle away jersey from the 90s and 00s.

“I was told by the same source that tipped me off about the 2020-21 jerseys that the Reverse Retro next year will be ‘a black screaming eagle, with the color scheme they wore in the 90s,'” Daitchman said to RMNB in an interview.

While RMNB independently learned of the Screaming Eagle jersey and its Reverse Retro design in 2020 from our own source, we could not confirm Lucas’s report for next season’s design.
