Game preview
The Washington Capitals are here to make up for whatever the Washington Commanders just did against the New York Giants [throws remote into space].
With a victory today over the Seattle Kraken, the Capitals can their strong start into their very first long winning streak of the season.
The Capitals are looking to win their third straight and sweep their opening three-game homestand to start the season. The Capitals improved their record to 3-1-0 after a 3-1 win over the New York Rangers on Thursday, two days after beating Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-3.
Seattle, meanwhile, arrives in Washington with plenty of offense, presenting another test for a defensively stout Capitals team that has allowed just four goals over its last two games. The Kraken are coming off a 6-3 win over the Detroit Red Wings on Friday in which Frederick Gaudreau scored twice. Early, Seattle is averaging 4.20 goals per game, third-most in the NHL. They’ve scored 21 goals in their first five games include six goals in three of them.
Pierre-Luc Dubois will miss today’s game due to illness (he also missed yesterday’s practice) and will be replaced by Justin Sourdif on the second line. Alex Ovechkin is also still searching for his first goal of his final NHL season. Today, he will be skating with the Protas brothers, which should be interesting.
Puck drop is at 5 pm. Joe Beninati, Craig Laughlin, AND TJ Oshie have the call. Watch along with us on Monumental Sports Network.
