The end of the season is here and to be honest, I’m really going to miss you guys. Even though the Capitals won’t make the postseason, it’s been a joy to cover the team again for you. I hope you continue tuning in to us for our offseason coverage, which will remain just as intense. It should be very interesting.

Tonight, the Capitals will suit up against the New Jersey Devils for game no. 82. The game is important for both teams, but for completely opposite reasons. With a win, the Devils could potentially wrap up a division title. With a loss, the Capitals would clinch eighth in the Draft Lottery. Here are all the clinching scenarios for the Caps.

Alex Ovechkin, who was a game-time decision, will play after missing the last few games due to injury.

Tonight’s game is on NBC Sports Washington and puck drop is a little after 7 pm. It’s Fan Appreciation Night at Capital One Arena.

Capitals vs Bruins live analysis and updates (April 11, 2023)

This is your place to check for updates and comment along with the Washington Capitals vs. Boston Bruins game on April 11, 2023.

The Washington Capitals are back in action as they will take the Bostin Bruins on at TD Garden. Tonight marks the first time the Caps will play the Bruins since GM Brian MacLellan traded Dmitry Orlov and Garnet Hathaway to the team in late February.

The Boston Bruins are the best team in the NHL. On Sunday, they set the NHL’s single-season wins record with 63. They are now one point away from the NHL’s single-season points record of 132, originally set by 1976-77 Montreal Canadiens. After tonight’s matchup with the Capitals, Boston will have one more game: a road tilt against Montreal, Thursday.

The Capitals will be without Alex Ovechkin once again. The team called up Henrik Borgstrom from Hershey before puck drop.

Capitals vs Islanders live analysis and updates (April 10, 2023)

This is your place to check for updates and comment along with the Washington Capitals vs. New York Islanders game on April 10, 2023.

The Washington Capitals’ season is almost over. They have three games in the next four nights before their first playoff-less season in nine years is kaput.

Tonight, the Capitals will take on the New York Islanders who are fiercely battling for one of the final two wild card spots in the East. The Capitals have officially clinched a spot in the premium part of the NHL Draft Lottery where it’s possible — albeit barely — they could move up and select Connor Bedard first overall. They will play with only 17 skaters again tonight — it appears out of choice.

Capitals vs Panthers live analysis and updates (April 8, 2023)

This is your place to check for updates and comment along with the Washington Capitals vs. Florida Panthers game on April 8, 2023.

The Washington Capitals enter tonight’s game against the Florida Panthers and it’s big for several reverse reasons.

With a win, the Capitals would help their biggest rivals, the Pittsburgh Penguins, in their attempt to make the postseason, which is super weird. With a loss, the Caps will continue to move down the standings, which would be good. Florida is playing for their playoff lives, so expect them to come out hot.

Alex Ovechkin will not play tonight due to injury while Peter Laviolette is giving Charlie Lindgren a start.

Tonight’s game is on NBC Sports Washington and puck drop is a little after 7 pm.

Capitals vs Canadiens live analysis and updates (April 6, 2023)

This is your place to check for updates and comment along with the Washington Capitals vs. Montreal Canadiens game on April 6, 2023.

The Washington Capitals, who are now mathematically eliminated from making the playoffs, will take on the Montreal Canadiens in a battle of two of the worst teams in the Eastern Conference. Over the last 10 games, the Canadiens have a better record than the Caps.

Washington will be without Anthony Mantha who is injured and will play with only 17 forwards.

The last time the Capitals played the Habs, times were so much better. Alex Ovechkin had a hat trick and the Caps scored a season-high nine goals in that New Year’s Eve game. Ovi took a photo with all of the Habs’ moms after the game, which might be my favorite moment of the season.

Now the Caps are playing out the schedule. Who knows what type of performance we’ll get? My hope: moar Ovi goals and a a big fat L for peak draft pick position.

Today’s game is on NBC Sports Washington. Puck drop is a little after 7 pm.

Capitals vs Rangers live analysis and updates (April 2, 2023)

This is your place to check for updates and comment along with the Washington Capitals vs. New York Rangers game on April 2, 2023.

The Washington Capitals are back on the ice and will play the New York Rangers on national TV at 1 pm.

Most recently, the Capitals lost both games of their back-to-back against the New York Islanders and Tampa Bay Lightning (1 standings point out of 4 total). The 2 L’s put the Capitals’ chances to make the postseason at 0.0 percent per MoneyPuck. The team has clinched their worst full season since 2006-07, Ovi’s second year. Nick Jensen found the team’s effort lacking against the Lightning.

Goaltender and rookie Mitchell Gibson will serve as backup with Charlie Lindgren out with illness.

While the playoffs are not a mathematical impossibility yet, it’d require every team ahead of the Capitals to lose almost every game they play.

Today’s game is on TNT. Puck drop is a little after 1:00 pm.

Capitals vs Penguins live analysis and updates (March 25, 2023)

This is your place to check for updates and comment along with the Washington Capitals vs. Pittsburgh Penguins game on March 25, 2023.

The Washington Capitals have another “big” game as they try to avoid being officially eliminated from the playoffs. Tonight the Capitals take on rival Pittsburgh at PPG Paints Arena. A loss would virtually end Washington’s chase.

Pittsburgh currently sits in the second wild card spot with 80 standings points. The Capitals, who sit in 11th place in the Eastern Conference, trail the Penguins by four with 10 games remaining. The Capitals would also have to leapfrog Florida (79 standings points) and Buffalo (76 standings points) and continue to stay ahead of the Ottawa Senators (75 standings points).

Tonight’s game is on ABC and ESPN+. Puck drop is a little after 8 pm.

Capitals vs Blackhawks live analysis and updates (March 23, 2023)

This is your place to check for updates and comment along with the Washington Capitals vs. Chicago Blackhawks game on March 23, 2023.

The Washington Capitals are back in action after (embarrassingly) falling to the Columbus Blue Jackets 7-6 (and making my son cry all the way back to the metro).

The Caps will get John Carlson back in the lineup for the first time since December 23 – though it’s debatable if that’s a good thing for the team in the moment.

Tonight’s game is on NBC Sports Washington. Puck drop is a little after 7 pm. It’s Women In Hockey Night.
