The Washington Capitals were destroyed 7-0 by the Columbus Blue Jackets yesterday at Nationwide Arena. Now, they will try to avenge that embarrassing loss at home in what Spencer Carbery has termed a “massive game” for the struggling team.
“We’re just focused on one game,” Carbery said. “I could care less about the New York Islanders and Pittsburgh, no disrespect to them. Tonight, our last home game of the season, against a team that’s fighting for their lives and is playing like this is their season, this for us is a critical hockey game for our team.”
The Capitals will get Alex Ovechkin back in the lineup, who remained in DC and missed Saturday’s game. John Carlson will exit the lineup for rest related reasons. Charlie Lindgren will start in net and oppose Jet Greaves, who shut out the team yesterday.
Puck drop for Caps-Blue Jackets is at 6:00 pm on Monumental Sports Network. John Walton and Craig Laughlin will have the call. Joe Beninati is out for the game, but will return Tuesday.
