Per Capitals PR, Eller has played in the most fourth-most games from the 2007 draft class, trailing only Patrick Kane (1,285), Jamie Benn (1,176), and David Perron (1,157). Eller’s 1,100 games are the most among all Danish players. He’s also one of 24th current players to suit up in that many games.
Five hundred and thirty-five of Eller’s 1,100 career games with Washington where, during the 2018 postseason, he became a Capitals’ legend forever when he scored the franchise’s only Stanley Cup-winning goal.
“The journey with the Caps has been incredibly grateful for all those moments and opportunity,” Eller said earlier in the day to Mike Vogel. “And as I’ve said many times before, Capital One Arena is one of the best places to step on and play. It’s a great atmosphere. It’s continued to be old the first time around, second time around, on a regular night in November or February. It doesn’t matter. Our fans have been really, really great here. And it helps the whole experience as a player to make it even better. But I’ve really enjoyed every single game as a Capital.”
Eller is currently playing in his second stint with the Capitals after the team traded to get him back in November. The third-line center previously celebrated his 1,000th NHL game with the Pittsburgh Penguins on January 27, 2024, receiving congratulations from his then former teammates Alex Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom, TJ Oshie, Tom Wilson, John Carlson.
Eller has 19 points (10g, 9a) in 63 games this season combined with the Capitals and Penguins.
