Sergei Ovechkin made a memorable cameo at the NHL’s 2023 All-Star Weekend. The four-year-old took center stage at the event’s media day and was on the ice for warmups ahead of the All-Star Skills Competition. Ovi Jr. was also a surprise participant in the Breakaway Challenge, winning the event with dad and Sidney Crosby on his wings.

The night was a special one for the family. Now, Ovi Jr. has been immortalized in an Upper Deck trading card. Sergei’s mom Nastya showed off the card on her Instagram story.

The card features Sergei and his dad Alex in matching Capitals Reverse Retro 2.0 jerseys on the ice in Florida at that Skills Competition. The back bio portion of the card reads:

At just the age of 4, Ovechkin was the star of the show at the Breakaway Challenge at the 2023 NHL All-Star Skills competition in Sunrise, Fla, on Feb 3, 2023. Along with father Alex, he earned a perfect score from the judges to claim the title.

While the Ovi Jr. rookie card looks legit, the collectible does not appear to be something that will be publicly available in one of Upper Deck’s sets. The card reads that it’s from Upper Deck’s 2022-23 Series 1 release on the back. This series was released three months before Ovi Jr. ever touched the ice in Florida. The card is also numbered #191 and that number in the set was reserved for Alex Ovechkin’s base card. Because of this, the Ovi Jr. RC is likely either a custom card or one sent directly to the Ovechkins by the company.

None of that takes away from the awesomeness of this card though.

While Sergei’s rookie might not fetch the combined $325,000 that his dad’s top five rookie cards have collected over the years, it’s still a super cool keepsake for such a young and passionate hockey fan like Ovi Jr.
