The Nationals will honor WNBA champion Washington Mystics, Elena Delle Donne will throw out first pitch before Game Four

Just like they did with the Washington Capitals, the Washington Nationals will honor at Nats Park another one of the local teams that recently won a championship.

Monday, the Nats announced that the WNBA champion Washington Mystics will be on the field for pregame festivities ahead of Game Four of the NLCS. WNBA MVP Elena Delle Donne will throw out the first pitch.

The last time this happened, a haggard Capitals team, brought the Stanley Cup onto the field to be saluted by fans. Alex Ovechkin needed two first pitches to hit the plate on his ceremonial first pitch. Nicklas Backstrom made a Russian machine never breaks joke to Ovechkin during the team’s press conference. The Capitals sang We Are The Champions and downed multiple beers on live television. Jakub Vrana invited a 10-year-old fan into the team’s luxury box and Capitals players helped him raise Stanley Cup. TJ Oshie got RMNB’s The Djoos is loose shirt for Christian Djoos on the way to the stadium. And then there was that whole Ovi bear-hugging-a-whole-row-of-fans thing. It was a hoot.

The Nationals play Game Three tonight at Nats Park. They can take a 3-0 lead in the series and be one game away from the World Series if Stephen Strasburg and the Nats’ hot bats can lead them to victory.
