The Capitals are back home at Capital One Arena for a three-game homestand. First up, hosting the Colorado Avalanche. This will be the first game back in DC for Andre Burakovsky after he was traded to the Avs for a second round pick, a third round pick, and a minor league player. I can’t lie to you guys, I really miss that little weirdo! But…watching him do well for another team is unsettling. I’d like to personally request that he doesn’t score a game-winning goal tonight. Philipp Grubauer will also be making his return to DC. He visited last year, but he wasn’t on the ice during that visit. He’ll be in goal for the Avs tonight.
Puck drop will be at 5PM EST (yeah…we know). Watch on NBC Sports Washington and Julia will have a recap for you.

Washington Nationals
The only perfect thing about the 5PM start for the Capitals game? Once it starts to wrap up, we can all tune into the baseball game! The Nationals are back in DC to host the St. Louis Cardinals for Game Three!

Storylines
- Top storyline? The season two finale of “Succession” aired on HBO last night and it was nothing short of an absolute masterpiece. That’s all I’ve got.
- Elena Delle Donne will officially be throwing out the first pitch for the Nationals’ Game Four. As she SHOULD. Let’s go Mystics. Let’s go Nats.
- Who is leading the WHL in scoring? Oh, easy. Look no further than Capitals prospect…Aliaksei Protas.
- Need a quick refresh on what happened during the last game? Chris has your numbers from the morning after.
- NBD but Travis Boyd has been killin’ it in the AHL. He was named AHL Player of the Week after scoring four goals in two games.
- The LA Kings (for some reason) think the Taylor Swift banner in their arena is what’s causing their problems. An interesting thought, but I think Swift might respond with “Don’t Blame Me” (sorry).
- Martin Fehervary scored his first AHL goal down in Hershey! Here’s hoping it’s the first of many professional goals to come.
- Braden Holtby‘s son wears the same jersey number as his papa. Cue the waterworks.
- There have only been six games so far and a lot of people are freaking out. So, Peter broke down the good and the bad thus far.
- Again, six games isn’t a lot of time to pull together some solid statistics, but that won’t stop us from celebrating the fact that John Carlson and Ilya Samsonov currently lead the NHL in a bunch of categories.
Hello?
A man in Ireland died and requested that they play a specific recording at his funeral. I can’t stop thinking about it.
