Taylor Swift, unlike the LA Kings, has done something award-worthy since 2014. In August 2015 she held a record 16 sold-out performances in the Staples Center, and an (admittedly, not very aesthetically pleasing) banner was hung in her honor.
The LA Kings hung Stanley Cup banners in 2012 and 2014, but they haven’t made it past the first round of the playoffs since T-Swift’s 1989 tour.
Coincidence? The Kings think not. Starting with their home opener Saturday, the Kings are covering her banner, which will definitely help them win more hockey games.
The @LAKings will cover Taylor Swift's banner at Staples Center for all home games. "The connection to our fans is our highest priority and through our engagement they have made it clear that the banner shouldn’t be part of their Kings game experience." https://t.co/tR04KZRamy

Sorry, Nashville Predators. Your position on the throne of Team With The Most Ridiculous Banner Story has been usurped by the Kings.
As Arash Markazi reported for the LA Times, while the organization’s statement is about how the reason for the change is to end the curse appease the fans, the Staples Center’s president Lee Zeidmanit said it was entirely the team’s decision.
Ms. Swift doesn’t have any tour dates in the Staples Center, but she will be in Hollywood on October 19 for the annual We Can Survive concert which raises money for breast cancer research.
C’mon, Kings. Just because you can’t see the banner doesn’t mean it isn’t there.
