The Capitals started the 2019 Prospect Showcase strong, with a high-scoring win over the Carolina Hurricanes. That hot start fizzled out as they dropped their next two games, including Tuesday’s matchup against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Bolts dominated through the second and third periods, coming out on top with a 7-2 win. The Capitals ended the showcase with a 1-1-1 record.
Your Caps goal scorers were Alex Kannok-Leipert and Connor McMichael.

Additional notes
- Goaltender Beck Warm was between the pipes for the Capitals. Warm faced 39 shots in total, allowing seven goals, and stopped two of five shootout attempts. Warm was a free agent invitee to the Capitals 2019 Development Camp. Warm currently plays in the WHL for the Tri-City Americans, a team that former Capitals goaltender and current goaltender coach Olie Kolzig is part of the ownership group for.
- Garrett Pilon, Erik Florchuk, Shane Gersich, Brett Leason and Beck Malenstyn were all denied by Bolts goaltender Clint Windsor in the shootout.
- The Caps 2019 first round draft pick, Connor McMichael, picked up his first goal of the tournament in this game. Defenseman Kannok-Leipert tallied his own goal on a rebound from a McMichael shot.
- Defenseman Martin Fehervary, who dazzled in Saturday’s matchup against the Canes, did not dress for the game against Nashville. He returned for this final game, and tallied an assist on McMichael’s goal.
- Though Brian Pinho did not score, he created a great play under pressure which led to McMichael’s goal. That assist saw Pinho finish the Showcase with three goals, two assists, the most of all the Capitals’ participants.
- The Capitals prospects left immediately after the game for D.C., in order to prepare for the start of Training Camp on Friday, September 13th.
