Reliving the best moments of the Capitals Championship parade and rally

The Washington Capitals celebrated their Stanley Cup win with a Championship parade and rally in DC on Tuesday. It had everything, from an F-16 flyover, to a “hot lap,” to iconic quotes, and so, so much more.

Keeping track of everything that happened is an almost impossible task, but we’ve collected as many videos as we possibly could of the day, so you can live, and relive it, over again.

F-16 flyover

The festivities were kicked off in style with an F-16 Fighting Falcons flyover from the Air Force National Guard.

The bus arrives

The reception as the Capitals arrived at the start of the parade route was almost deafening. But we’d expect no less from Capitals fans.

Barry Trotz “hot lap”

You didn’t think that you’d seen the last of the hot lap? Capitals head coach Barry Trotz made a quick lap, high fiving several fans along the route, before heading back towards the bus.

Introducing your Washington Capitals

Capitals play-by-play announcer Joe Beninati and John Walton acted as the rally MC’s, and introduced everyone involved in making the Caps’ playoff run a resounding success.

Beer chugging

Several Capitals chugged their beers as the took a bow at the front of the stage. Devante Smith-Pelly, Nathan Walker, Matt Niskanen, TJ Oshie, and Brooks Orpik. They all started at they meant to go on.

The Floss

We couldn’t put it any better than CBS Sports’ Pete Blackburn: Jakub Vrana is living his best life.

Bird celly

As Evgeny Kuznetsov walked to the front of the stage to take his bows, the rest of the team celebrated his now-iconic bird celly.

“Let’s f%$k this shit”

Kuznetsov, as always, had a way with his words. After thanking his friends, family, and the fans for their support, he dropped the first f-bomb of the rally. It wouldn’t be the last.

“Finally, we played hockey like we can party”

It wasn’t down to Kuznetsov to keep all of the iconic quotes himself. Nicklas Backstrom also dropped his own epic one-liner.

“What’s up, babes”

When it was finally Ovechkin’s turn at the mic, he greeted Capitals fans by asking, “What’s up, babes.” We’re getting the feeling that that is a running nickname in the Capitals locker room.

“We’re not going to be f$%*ing suck this year”

We already covered the return of Ovechkin’s season-long mantra at the rally, but it doesn’t hurt to repeat it.

Tom Wilson and Jakub Vrana hug

Jakub Vrana, besides Ovechkin, has probably been the Capitals most entertaining drunk as the celebrations have continued. His hug with Tom Wilson on stage was pretty epic, though.

Pop the champagne

What’s a celebration without a little champagne?

We are the Champions

There was only one way to end a post rounding up the Capitals parade and rally shenanigans: with another performance of “We are the Champions.” This time, with a crowd of Capitals fans joining in.
