Barry Trotz spoke to the media following practice on Wednesday, at Kettler Capitals Iceplex. When it was pointed out that recent signing Brian Pinho had not been on the ice, Trotz confirmed that the young prospect has returned to school.
“He’s not out there,” Trotz said. “He’s back at school.”

When we reached out for a comment, Capitals spokesman said, “That was the plan all along. Brian [Pinho] had school commitments and we were flexible in allowing him to return to finish his courses. Once he is done with his courses, we will reassess his future.”
The Washington Post’s Isabelle Khurshudyan also noted that as Pinho would not be playing in the postseason, the Capitals allowed him to return to Providence to graduate.
Pinho isn't here. He wasn't going to play anyway, so he went back to Providence College to graduate.

He's obviously signed and under contract. Caps just told him to go ahead and graduate since he won't be getting into a playoff game anyway.
