Watch the Caps butcher holiday classics for joke Christmas album

The holiday season is upon us, which means it’s time for the annual Capitals holiday video. In the past, we’ve gotten fantastic remakes of classic films such as A Christmas Story or Christmas card pictures with the Wizards.

This year, however, we get something wonderfully bad: Wow Capitals Tunes Vol. 2. In the words from confused pitchman Andre Burakovsky, “It’s way better than the first [album] — because we never made one.”

Video

Some highlights:

  • A clown-nosed Matt Niskanen stares deep into the camera, saying “Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer,” then walks out of the shot.
  • The musically-talented Braden Holtby croons both Let it Snow and Rocking Around the Christmas Tree.
  • “I don’t think this is a good idea,” Evgeny Kuznetsov says before completely butchering It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year.
  • Oh no.
  • Chandler Stephenson and Taylor Chorney trade bars on a wonderful It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas duet.
  • John Carlson and Dmitry Orlov have 0 rhythm.
  • And Tom Wilson is so off key while retching Mariah Carey’s hit All I Want For Christmas is You.

At the end of the video, Young Dre gives us one final pitch: “Call now to stuff those stockings with the best CD in the world. Ever. Period.”

If this CD was real, the Caps would have my money in a heartbeat.

I’d also need this album too.
