Devils starting goaltender Cory Schneider sat out Monday night as New Jersey played their first preseason game of the year against the Washington Capitals. Devils head coach John Hynes chose instead to give Keith Kinkaid and Scott Wedgewood equal time in net during the team’s 4-1 win.
Schneider, however, managed to stay active during the game, taking on a new role with the team.
A usher touched me and said“sir, your jersey is outdated so here’s a New Jersey on the House, I look closely it’s CORY SCHNEIDER! @NJDevils pic.twitter.com/uhu49dTSqT

Schneider, wearing a vest and a credential, spent the night working as an usher. To keep his identity under wraps, the famous goalie underwent a subtle makeover, sporting a goatee and black-rimmed glasses.

The Corey S. name tag should have been a dead giveaway though.

Jhon C., who is a huge Devils fan, was genuinely surprised and touched by the gesture.
I’m not going to lie, the disguise was good, if it wasn’t for his nametag and the fact he was signing my jersey i wouldn’t have known
