Hi, my name is Ian Oland. I’m your driver of the Washington Capitals bandwagon. Today, we need to make a quick stop in Hollywood, CA, to pick up our newest passenger: Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek.
On Friday, the Jeopardy! YouTube account uploaded an interview where Trebek talks hockey for a few minutes. When asked what team would surprise people in the playoffs, Trebek picked the Caps.
“Well, it’s not going to be a surprise,” Trebek said, wearing a Habs jersey (which we’ll ignore… this time). “It’s Washington. I mean, they have been dominant all season long.”
“In terms of surprise, maybe the Anaheim Ducks,” Trebek continued. “The Kings are still looking good, looking strong. But then again, you have the Rangers and you have Chicago. Chicago is solid. But in the East, I think it’s Washington. It might be their year.”
The essential Trebek GIFs.
This news should make Caps fan and Frederick Country resident Kelly Wright happy. Wright became a Jeopardy! champion in December. She wore an RMNB t-shirt under her sweater.
In the video, Trebek expands upon his fanhood. He said he grew up a Detroit Red Wings fan because of Gordie Howe, but later switched allegiances to the Montreal Canadiens after Howe retired.
Trebek, born in Ontario, joins famous people such as wide receiver Roddy White, Hall of Famer and Stanley Cup champion Mike Modano, and this Utz potato chip my mom gave me to pick the Caps.
In the coming days, expect more famous people to give the Caps their support after the team dominated the regular season.
And I’ll be here, ready to pick them up.
