The Washington Nationals just announced some exciting news on social media.
Like they did during the NLCS, the Nationals are opening up Nationals Park for free watch parties for Games One and Two of the World Series. This is similar to what the Capitals did during the Stanley Cup Final in 2018.
Game One is on Tuesday and Game Two will be on Wednesday. Both games start at 8 pm.
Wednesday afternoon, Caps fans sold out Capital One Arena in just a few minutes after the Washington Capitals put up tickets for a free watch party. The Caps can clinch the organization’s first Stanley Cup with a victory in Las Vegas.
According to a release from the team and first reported by the Washington Post’s Dan Steinberg, 70,000 people logged on to try and snag any of the available tickets.
To put that in perspective, that’s nearly four sold out Capital One Arenas.
Again: for a watch party, not a hockey game.
On Tuesday, the Capitals announced that they would be holding a viewing party at Capital One Arena for Game Five. However, fans wanting to attend would need to purchase a free ticket via Ticketmaster, starting at 1 PM on Wednesday.
In anticipation of the Capitals doing the thing on Thursday, fan demand to be in the arena crashed Ticketmaster. Twenty minutes later, the Capitals Twitter account confirmed that all tickets had sold out.

After huge interest that saw a Thursday afternoon Mystics game sell out, the Washington Capitals have announced details for their Game Five watch party at Capital One Arena.
The gist is this. Tickets to the Mystics game are now free and anyone who has already purchased a seat to the game directly from the team will be refunded. Tuesday morning, some Mystics tickets were going for hundreds or thousands of dollars on the secondary market. Caps fans interested in attending the viewing party must sign up for free tickets starting at 1 PM Wednesday.

Washington Capitals fans have filled up Capital One Arena to the brim for the team’s watch parties of Stanley Cup Final games.
But a pickle fell into the team’s lap when Game Five fell on the same night as a WNBA Washington Mystics game. To continue with the watch parties, the Mystics game was moved forward with a tip off time at 4 PM rather than the regular 7 PM start.
In an announcement from the team, fans attending the game were encouraged to stay after and watch the Caps on the Jumbotron.

As part of festivities for the Stanley Cup Final, the Capitals will be continuing their in-the-streets festival outside Capital One Arena starting at 4 pm Monday, prior to the team’s Game Four matchup against Vegas. Headlining the activities will be a free concert on the steps of the National Portrait Gallery at 8th and G Streets by Fall Out Boy.
Fans who don’t have a ticket can watch the game on the big board and multiple screens outside Capital One Arena, where the Caps will once again be hosting an outdoor watch party. All Hockey Fest activities are free open to the public.
If you are trying to avoid the masses outside COA, but still want to attend a viewing party with other Caps fans, you can head on over to Farragut Square at 17th and K Streets.

The Washington Capitals will be participating in the Stanley Cup Final for the first time in two decades as they take on the expansion Vegas Golden Knights.
After having a huge turnout for Game Seven of the Eastern Conference Final, the Capitals will be opening up Capital One Arena again for a watch party to watch the away games. The doors open for both games at 7 PM. Game One is Monday and Game Two is Wednesday.
The DC government is looking in to making Washington DC like other huge hockey towns across North America.
Friday, WTOP’s Jack Pointer spoke to Jack Evans, and the DC Council member expressed his interest to shut down city streets near Capital One Arena for the team’s remaining home playoff games this season. Friday evening, the Capitals are hosting a watch party for Game One in a Rosslyn, Virginia park. Evans wants to shift that activity downtown for future games.
