Washington Capitals fans have filled up Capital One Arena to the brim for the team’s watch parties of Stanley Cup Final games.
But a pickle fell into the team’s lap when Game Five fell on the same night as a WNBA Washington Mystics game. To continue with the watch parties, the Mystics game was moved forward with a tip off time at 4 PM rather than the regular 7 PM start.
In an announcement from the team, fans attending the game were encouraged to stay after and watch the Caps on the Jumbotron.

Many Caps fans, however, thought ahead of the curve and purchased tickets to the Mystics in hopes to snag a good seat in the 100’s for the watch party. The Mystics game is officially sold out (only the 100-level is sold), with resale tickets in the hundreds. As of noon on Tuesday, tickets on Ticketmaster resale are listed for $500-1,500.
[Editor’s Note: Please don’t fall for Mystics tickets being sold for any section other than a 100-level. These tickets may be found on resale sites, but they do not exist.]
It is unclear as of noon on Tuesday whether the arena will be cleared out prior to the watch party, or fans with Mystics tickets will be allowed to stay inside. We spoke to a Capitals ticket representative who said a decision has not been made and everything on the internet right now is “rumor.”
More from the Mystics:
The Washington Mystics and the Minnesota Lynx will play on Thursday, June 7 at 4:00 pm at Capital One Arena. The game was previously scheduled for 7:00 pm. Following the Mystics game, fans are invited to stay at Capital One Arena to watch the Washington Capitals versus Vegas Golden Knights in game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals at 8 p.m.
Mystics Fans who plan on attending the game against the Minnesota Lynx on June 7 can simply present their ticket at the gate for entry. All fans are encouraged to stay after the game and cheer on the Capitals.
