Bruins’ Bobby Orrlov, er Dmitry Orlov, named NHL’s First Star of the Week after trade from Capitals

The NHL released their Three Stars of the Week Monday afternoon, and Caps fans will see a familiar face among the list.

After a dazzling start to his time on on the Boston Bruins, former Capital Dmitry Orlov was named First Star for the week ending on March 5th.

During his first full week with the Bruins, Orlov scored three goals and six assists, totaling nine points in a four-game span. He also earned the nickname Bobby Orrlov from the media.

Orlov never won the award during his time with the Capitals.

Alex Ovechkin named First Star of the Week for second consecutive week after passing Gordie Howe in goals

Alex Ovechkin was named the NHL’s First Star of the Week by the league for the week ending on December 25.

It’s the second week in a row that Ovi has earned the honor and the third week in a row that a Capitals player has taken down the top spot — Charlie Lindgren being the other. Ovechkin secures his second in a row after tying and passing Gordie Howe on the all-time goals list with two goals against the Winnipeg Jets on Friday.

Alex Ovechkin named NHL’s First Star of the Week after hitting 800 goals milestone

Alex Ovechkin was named the NHL’s First Star of the Week by the league for the week ending on December 18.

It’s the second week in a row a Capitals player has earned the honor — Charlie Lindgren was the other — and the second week in a row Tage Thompson has (questionably) finished second.

Charlie Lindgren’s been so good lately he won First Star of the Week over Tage Thompson who had a five-goal game

Charlie Lindgren (and his mustache from the Industrial Revolution) just received one of the biggest honors of his career.

The Capitals’ backup goaltender was named the NHL’s First Star of the Week for the week ending in December 11.

Lindgren, forced into the starting spot after Darcy Kuemper was elbowed in the head, has been sensational, leading the Capitals to a four-game winning streak.

Alex Ovechkin named NHL’s first star of the week again after scoring four times in three games

Alex Ovechkin has not stopped scoring and continues to pile up league accolades early in the 2021-22 season.

Ovi was named the NHL’s first star of the week after he recorded seven points in three games (4-3-7).

Alex Ovechkin is on a tear and piling up the accolades early in the 2021-22 season.

The 36-year-old superstar was named the NHL’s first star of the week after a McDavidian performance where he recorded eight points in four games (2-6-8).
