USA Hockey announced its five-member 2026 U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame class on Thursday, with TJ Oshie among those selected for induction.
Oshie is among four players, including Phil Kessel, Ryan Suter, and Amanda Kessel, to be enshrined, as well as former Washington Capitals athletic trainer Stan Wong.
Oshie’s nod comes just over a year after he officially retired from the NHL after playing 16 seasons for the St. Louis Blues and Washington Capitals. The 39-year-old Washington state-born winger also had a storied career with Team USA, particularly his memorable shootout performance at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
During his 1,010-game NHL career, Oshie recorded 695 points (302g, 393a). He also contributed 69 points (34g, 35a) in 106 career playoff games, helping the Capitals win the franchise’s first Stanley Cup in 2018.
Oshie was selected 24th overall by St. Louis in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, making his NHL debut during the 2008-09 campaign. Before turning pro, he played for the USHL’s Sioux Falls Stampede and spent three NCAA seasons at the University of North Dakota.
On the international stage, Oshie’s most notable moment in a Team USA jersey came in Sochi, where he converted four of six shootout attempts in a 3-2 preliminary-round win over the hosting Team Russia. Oshie also played at three men’s World Championships (2009, 2010, 2013), winning one bronze medal, as well as the 2006 World Junior Championship and 2016 World Cup of Hockey.
The other Capitals inductee is Wong, who began his career as an athletic trainer with the club in 1986 and held that position for 13 seasons. He later held the same role with the Florida Panthers for three years before beginning his illustrious stint with USA Hockey.
The Fall River, Massachusetts, native made his IIHF debut for the USA as the athletic trainer in 2003 at the World Junior Championship and has since served in that same role at every subsequent tournament, helping the team to seven gold medals (2004, 2010, 2013, 2017, 2021, 2024, 2025). He has also been an athletic trainer at the Olympics five times (2006, 2010, 2014, 2018, 2022) and at the men’s World Championships 18 times.
Phil Kessel played 17 NHL seasons with the Boston Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs, Pittsburgh Penguins, Arizona Coyotes, and Vegas Golden Knights. He won two Stanley Cups with the Penguins (2016, 2017) and notched 992 career points (413g, 579a) in 1,064 games. Kessel played for Team USA at the 2010 and 2014 Olympics, three men’s World Championships (2006, 2007, 2008) and two World Junior Championships (2005, 2006).
Suter played 20 NHL seasons with the Nashville Predators, Minnesota Wild, Dallas Stars, and St. Louis Blues. He played in 1,526 regular-season games before retiring in 2025, second all-time among American-born players. Internationally, Suter is a two-time Olympian (2010, 2014) and played five men’s World Championships (2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2019) and the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.
Amanda Kessel, one of the most talented women’s hockey players of all time and Phil Kessel’s sister, is a three-time Olympian and won a gold medal for Team USA in 2018. She also skated in seven women’s World Championships and won four gold medals. The Madison, Wisconsin, native also played multiple seasons in the NWHL and PWHPA for the New York Riveters, Metropolitan Riveters, and Team Adidas.
All five inductees will be officially enshrined during a celebration held Monday, November 30, 2026, in Washington, D.C.
