The Ottawa Senators announced Saturday afternoon that a second roster player has tested positive for COVID-19.
It’s the second known case in the NHL.

The Senators said in a release that 52 people traveled on their last road trip, which included stops in San Jose, Anaheim, and Los Angeles. Ottawa played in San Jose after Santa Clara County recommended against holding large-gathering events. The Senators’ final two games were against San Anaheim and Los Angeles. The Senators’ final game held at Staples Center came a day after the Brooklyn Nets played the Los Angeles Lakers. Four Nets players have tested positive for the coronavirus.
44 people with the Senators have shown no symptoms while eight have been tested.
“We are awaiting the results from tests that took place on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday,” the Senators said.
The NHL has suspended its season until at least May after the CDC recommended all large public gatherings be canceled for eight weeks.

The total number of people that travelled with the club is 52, including players, staff, media, guests and flight crew. Of those on the trip, 44 have shown no symptoms, eight people have been tested, and two positive results were received. We are awaiting the results from tests that took place on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Everyone who took part in the Ottawa Senators trip to California was instructed to self-quarantine on Friday, March 13th and remain so.
