Monumental Sports Network is adding another streaming option for Washington Capitals fans, reaching an agreement to make its Monumental+ subscription available through DAZN.
The partnership will allow eligible viewers in MNMT’s regional broadcast territory to watch locally televised Capitals games and the network’s other programming through DAZN, while Monumental’s existing cable, streaming, and direct-to-consumer options will remain in place.
“Monumental Sports Network has incredible reach across the DMV, and we continue to pursue opportunities that engage fans wherever and however they choose to watch,” Zach Leonsis, president of media and new enterprises for Monumental Sports & Entertainment, said in a statement. “DAZN has built a highly innovative global sports entertainment platform and offers an extensive portfolio of premium sports content. We’re pleased to give fans another way to watch our live games and other programming.”
“Monumental Sports Network has created a compelling local sports offering, and DAZN is delighted to collaborate with them to expand its reach,” added Shay Segev, CEO of DAZN Group. “As we continue to grow our portfolio of premium US sports content – from NFL Game Pass and NHL.tv to live games from leading NBA, MLB and NHL teams – partnerships such as this highlight the benefits of DAZN’s built-for-sport platform for rights holders, ensuring fans have more ways to access the sports they love.”
DAZN’s portfolio includes NFL Game Pass and NHL.tv internationally, as well as live games and content from NBA, MLB, and NHL teams. The service also carries boxing, soccer, motorsports, basketball, and other sports programming. The platform has also begun adding local team broadcasts, including a deal to carry Minnesota Timberwolves games beginning with the 2026–27 season.
Tuesday’s announcement comes nearly a year after Monumental Sports Network was dropped by YouTube TV and Hulu and a week after DAZN completed its acquisition of ViewLift, the streaming technology company that powers Monumental+, which originally started as SnagFilms. Ted Leonsis, the founder, chairman, managing partner, and CEO of Monumental Sports & Entertainment, also serves as founder and chairman of ViewLift.
“In a highly competitive and constantly changing market, Viewlift stayed the course, remained disciplined, continued to innovate, and rose above the competition,” Leonsis wrote on X. “DAZN is a worldwide leader in sports streaming and is becoming a truly global, pure play media company built around subscriptions and a wide range of streaming options. I am proud of the Viewlift team and proud to now be a shareholder in DAZN. I look forward to the continued success of the combined company and everyone who helped make this milestone possible.”
This announcement does not appear to make Capitals games nationally available to everyone through DAZN. The press release also does not specify the price, exactly when the DAZN option launches, whether M+ is included in a standard DAZN subscription or purchased separately, or whether existing M+ subscribers can simply log into DAZN with their current credentials.
