The Washington Capitals were graced by more star athletes at Capital One Arena on Wednesday.
Two days after Baltimore Orioles’ shortstop Gunnar Henderson and Washington Nationals’ ace MacKenzie Gore attended Game One, Washington Commanders’ superstar quarterback Jayden Daniels was in the house to show his support to the Capitals for Game 2.
Daniels had glass-side seats and was joined at the by fellow teammates Marcus Mariota and Sam Hartman, the two other members of the Commanders’ quarterbacks crew.
Daniels, who arrived wearing a Stéh Līht branded long-sleeve shirt, eventually threw on a black Alex Ovechkin Capitol Dome jersey from Ovi’s rookie year. Mariota and Hartman did the same.
The three Commanders’ players were introduced to the crowd during the second stoppage in play during the first period, earning a loud roar from Capitals faithful. Each player signed three footballs and then threw them into the crowd.
“MAKE SOME NOISE, YEAH!!!!!” screamed Hartman into a microphone he was given.
Hartman also chugged a beer 2019 Washington Nationals-style.
Other Commanders players were hanging out at the game too, including guard Sam Cosmi. The players took a group photo for the team’s social media.
The appearance from the Commanders comes as the NFL team began offseason workout programs on Monday. Via 106.7 The Fan’s Grant Paulsen, Daniels drew a huge mob of fans looking for photos and autographs during intermission.
After decades of dreariness, the Commanders’ electrified the fanbase after making its first trip to the NFC championship game in 33 years. Daniels, playing in his rookie year, threw for 3,568 yards and 25 touchdowns, rushing for six TDs himself. Daniels also had arguably one of the greatest plays in NFL history during the season, throwing a last second hail mary to give the Commanders a thrilling 18-15 victory over the Chicago Bears.
