Gunnar Henderson, Ryan Mountcastle, and MacKenzie Gore among local MLB players spotted at Capitals first playoff game

Several big-name MLB stars were at Capital One Arena for Game 1 of the Washington Capitals’ first-round playoff series against the Montreal Canadiens.

Baltimore Orioles shortstop Gunnar Henderson — a 2024 All-Star and the 2023 AL Rookie of the Year — was spotted on the concourse with teammate Ryan Mountcastle.

Washington Nationals ace MacKenzie Gore, who currently leads the National League in strikeouts (45), and Jake Irvin, the number two starter in the Nationals’ rotation, had glass side seats behind the goal where the Capitals shot twice. The two pitchers were spotted taking photos with fans throughout the evening. Irvin rocked a rookie year Alex Ovechkin Screaming Eagle jersey.

Finally, along the concourse, Capitals superfan Charlie McManus spotted former Nationals outfielder and 2019 World Series champion Gerardo Parra. Parra attended the game with his family, sitting in the lower bowl. The former National became a national story when he came to bat with the walkup song “Baby Shark,” which became a rallying cry for that championship team.

Parra also posted a selfie he took with Alex Ovechkin back when the Nationals celebrated their World Series at Capital One Arena in 2019.

“Good luck @capitals,” Parra wrote to his Instagram Story.
