The Washington Capitals are in The Windy City tonight to complete their second back-to-back of December. They’ll face off against the Chicago Blackhawks and young star Connor Bedard.
The Blackhawks are 10-19-2 this season and sit seventh in the Central Division with 22 standings points. Bedard leads the team in points (7g, 19a) while Ryan Donato paces the team with 10 goals. The Blackhawks are coming off a 5-3 victory over the New York Islanders on Sunday, where Bedard scored one of the biggest goals of his young career.
Washington’s long road winning-streak ended against the Dallas Stars last night despite an overall good performance at five-on-five. Though if the Caps think the Blackhawks are going to roll over for the Caps, Spencer Carbery had a big warning to his group pregame.
“Chicago doesn’t feel sorry for us because we’re on a back-to-back,” Carbery said. “They know one of the top teams in the NHL standing wise are coming into their building and they are going to take the best crack they can at us.”
Jakub Vrana will remain in the lineup and skate on the third line while Hendrix Lapierre will sit. Logan Thompson will oppose Arvid Soderblom in net.
The Capitals-Blackhawks game is airing on Monumental Sports Network. Joe Beninati and Craig Laughlin have the call. Puck drop is shortly after 8:30 pm.
