A real-life Ovi’s Office is open in Moscow in tribute to Alex Ovechkin

Alex Ovechkin received an on-brand tribute in his home country before flying to North America for his 20th NHL season. What first began as a place on the ice where the Capitals captain could not be stopped scoring goals — one-timers from the left faceoff circle — is now a physical place where three people work.

Fonbet, a sports betting company operating in Russia and Kazakhstan, imagined what a workspace of the Capitals captain might look like and created Ovechkin’s Office in a real business space located in Moscow. Ovechkin is a brand ambassador for the company.

The work space is impressively detailed and also operates unintentionally as a shrine to the 853-goal scorer. The Fonbet website promoting the attraction says, “THE OFFICE HAS EVERYTHING,” and, friends, they aren’t lying. See the 3D graphic.

The Office

So that Ovechkin can get down to business properly, there is an office space that includes:

  • A large office table featuring a phone, tape dispenser, pens, sticky notes, hat-trick of pucks, a red diecast SUV, calendar featuring a photo of Ovechkin wearing an 895 goals jersey, and a record player to presumably pump in Joe Beninati goal calls or Russian house music. An illustrated hockey rink mat sits under a glass riser.
  • Big boss chair that comes with a striking red backing.
  • Large indoor plant
  • A hanging cube display that includes branded mugs, a mini fridge, a clock set to 8:08, neon sign, framed photos of his family and Ovi receiving a free car from the KHL, a personalized Fonbet jersey, and books.
  • A hanging Ovi’s Office sign that has crossed hockey sticks behind it.

An indoor rink

To keep Ovechkin’s shot both hard and accurate there’s:

  • A hockey net and shooting target.
  • An equipment wall featuring all the hockey essentials: four hockey sticks; red, white, and black tape; and a helmet, gloves, jersey, and skates. Fonbet also describes it as a photo zone for guests.
  • Hanging artwork that features a hockey net and pucks.
  • A large video screen where highlights of all of Ovechkin’s goals play.

Other furnishings and flourishes

So that Ovechkin’s guests don’t get bored, there’s also fun things to explore like:

  • A dry erase board featuring some of the goalies Ovechkin has scored on.
  • An Ovi’s Office branded foosball table with a TV that hangs on the wall.
  • A replica Washington Capitals championship ring.

The grand opening was held on August 29 and Ovechkin attended in style. Photos show Ovechkin in a suit and red tie “arriving” via an Ovi’s Office-branded ice resurfacer. Ovi holds his typical meal before boarding a plane for an away game: a sub and Flamin’ Hot Cheetos.

Ovi’s Office opened to the public on August 30 and will close after Ovechkin’s 39th birthday on September 17. It will then reopen on the ice in NHL arenas starting in October.
