ARLINGTON, VA — Washington Capitals Development Camp players hosted a free on-ice clinic for 60 local youth hockey players ages 6 through 12 after their own skating session ended on Friday afternoon.

The youth hockey players were divided into six different stations with Capitals prospects and worked on their skill through small area games.

One station even featured stick-less players batting around a red and white soccer ball instead of a stick. After the kids left the ice, the ball found a new purpose in an impromptu game of on-ice two touch before it sailed straight over the rink’s netting.

The clinic took place at MedStar Capitals Iceplex from 4:30-5:30 p.m Friday night: several of the Caps’ top prospects including Ryan Leonard, Andrew Cristall, and recently-signed first-round pick Terik Parascak all participated.

Here are my photos from the event.
