The Tampa Bay Lightning have just won the fourth longest game in NHL history. Six hours after the puck was first dropped, Tampa forward Brayden Point finally got a shot past Columbus goalie Joonis Korpisalo.
In 5OT, Brayden Point scored his second goal of the game, a wristshot from the point on a rebound. The shot came right after Vladislav Gavrikov got hurt blocking a shot and just moments after Columbus killed a delay-of-game penalty.
Check out the raw emotion in this hockey hug.
Pure relief.
Officially, the game began at 3:09 PM and ended at 9:22. Korpisalo saved 84 shots. Seth Jones played over an hour ice of time. The NHL did some good jokes.
And the Tampa Bay Lightning won their first playoff game since May of 2018.
Ahhh, loffs.
