Avalanche wish Hurricanes good luck against the Capitals, which is awkward

The Colorado Avalanche are rooting for exactly one team only in the Capitals-Hurricanes exhibition game today.

The Avs, who feature two former Capitals in their lineup, Philipp Grubauer and Andre Burakovsky, sent a good luck tweet to – yup, you guessed it…

The Carolina Hurricanes!

Wait, what?

After some painstaking research by the RMNB team (time we’ll sadly never get back), we figured out that the Avs are part of the “Wild Card Chaos Squad” which also includes the Canes, Columbus Blue Jackets, and Dallas Stars.

All three teams unexpectedly advanced out of the first round of the playoffs last year. The strange part is that the bit hasn’t stopped with the Canes and Avs. It has continued exhaustingly throughout the 2019-20 season.

The Hurricanes, of course, have been meanies to the Capitals online hoping to start a rivalry. But it seems like the Capitals don’t even really care.
