Caps anthem singer Bob McDonald performs Memorial Day concert on rooftop to benefit Gold Star Family Memorial

Master Sergeant Bob McDonald is a member of the US Army Chorus and an anthem singer for the Washington Capitals and Washington Nationals. During his free time, McDonald also performs concerts.

On Memorial Day, McDonald ambled to the roof of Arlington’s Rebellion on the Pike to perform and raise money for a Gold Star Family Memorial being built in Northern Virginia.

“I sang some from the shows that I do,” McDonald said. “Sinatra, movie songs, Broadway, and of course some patriotic songs for today. I closed with God Bless America and ‘Tomorrow’ from Annie. A real song of hope in these tough times.

“Over the course of a couple hours, they probably had 100 people or so come by. They were social distancing of course,” McDonald added. “A lot of Caps fans were there.”

One Family Brewing Co., located in Lovettsville, VA, also released a new beer called The Fallen at the event.

At the beginning of the month, McDonald performed a concert from his porch to raise money for the Arlington Food Bank.

“There were some Gold Star Families in attendance which obviously made it very special,” McDonald said.
