The Caps had two stinkers against the Isles and Flyers and hoped to rebound against the high-flying Colorado Avalanche. How’d they do? Let’s talk about it.
Andre Burakovsky now has a career-high in goals thanks to his opening period tally. Mikko Rantanen scored an absolute dart after a TJ Oshie o-zone penalty. Nicklas Backstrom smacked home a beautiful back-door feed to cut the lead in half. The Caps had roughly a gajillion power plays and then FINALLY Tom Wilson tipped one home in front. Then TJ Oshie deflected a beautiful Nick Jensen shot to give the Caps the lead with two minutes remaining. They did not relinquish it.
CAPS WIN 3-2!
- Joe B and Locker got the national broadcast tonight in case Ovi notched 700 goals. Congrats!!
- I’m not sure what this monstrosity is but it will haunt my nightmares for weeks.

- Of course Burkie scored against his former team. Nathan MacKinnon going full speed on a 2-on-1 with Burakovsky keeping up can only spell trouble. Good for Burkie, bad for the Caps.
- Bojangles and dangles, let’s make it happen. I’m all in.
Since there are a few Bojangles in the area, petition that instead of Netflix and chill we go with Bojangles and dangles, who says no? https://t.co/D1PX5k1PtP

- So. Braden Holtby has had a super weird season. But. Can we discuss him saving the Caps bacon throughout the first and second period? He was able to keep the boys in it until Backy’s strike on the power play. Sometimes nothing is going right and you need your goalie to keep you in it. Holtby did that tonight. More please!
- Alex Ovechkin had approximately 90 billion shots on goal, but couldn’t notch 699 (nicenicenice) or 700. It’s coming fam. Soon.
- Nick Jensen brought his dancing shoes on that Oshie goal. Goodness gracious that stutter step is deadly. I mean look at these MOVES.

The Caps finally found some urgency and clawed back against a very, very good Avs team. This is a game they needed to win, and they pulled it off. You’ll get another #RMNBafterdark Saturday when the Caps take on the Coyotes at 10 p.m.
