Connor McMichael scores his fourth goal of the World Junior Championship

Connor McMichael started off the scoring in the Canada-Finland WJC semifinal game, Saturday.

McMichael’s tally began a four-goal first period for Canada, which included three goals in the first 3:55 of the game. It was the most goals Finland had given up all tournament long.

McMichael scored on a snipe shortly after a Finland faceoff win. After taking a pass from Aidan Dudas, McMichael beat Finnish goalie Justus Annunen far-side.

McMichael celebrated by going to one knee and pumping his fist multiple times.

1:17 later, Alexis Lafreniere, the likely first overall pick of the 2020 NHL Draft, scored on his backhand.

Then Jamie Drysdale and Ty Dellandrea added tallies to make it a blowout.

After leading the OHL in points for most of the season, McMichael now has four goals in his first U20 World Junior Championship for Team Canada. He called making the team, “a dream come true.”
