Christian Djoos scored the Hershey Bears’ Teddy Bear Toss goal. Fans tossed a world record 45,650 stuffed animals onto the ice.

The Hershey Bears held their annual Teddy Bear Toss Game Sunday night at Giant Center. 45,650 stuffed animals rained down onto the ice, breaking the world record they set last season of 34,798.

Stanley Cup champion Christian Djoos, who was sent down to the AHL earlier in the day by the Capitals, scored the historic Teddy Bear Toss goal.

The goal was assisted by Joe Snively and Mike Sgarbossa. I even had my phone knocked out of my hands by a stuffed pig.

After celebrating the goal, Bears players immediately took to the ice from the bench and helped collect the mass collection of stuffed toys.

Players took pics for media on the ice and jumped into the piles of stuffed animals.

Six-foot four-inch Alex Alexeyev struggled to get out of the pile after being swallowed whole by the soon-to-be-donated toys.

10,014 fans filled Giant Center for the game meaning each fan donated more than four bears per person.

The Hershey Bears will be delivering the stuffed animals Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday to around 40 local charities and non-profits ahead of the holiday season.
