‘Let’s get weird’: John Walton’s offseason beard is here to stay

Over the summer, Washington Capitals radio announcer John Walton debuted a new look during an interview with NHL Network about Alex Ovechkin’s trip to China. The beard was an instant hit with Caps fans, though Walton later broke some hearts by saying that it was “unlikely” he would keep the beard for the 2019-20 season.

However, it appears that Walton may have changed his mind about shaving his facial hair for the start of the season.

“Have decided to keep it to start the season,” Walton tweeted in reply to a question asking whether he would rock the beard for the season. “Let’s get weird.”

The decision was immediately met with positive responses. As was his new call to Caps fans to get weird.

The Capitals are already well known for their odd shenanigans. So, we’re here for it. #LetsGetWeird.
