Carolina Hurricanes go on a duck hunt in latest Storm Surge

The Carolina Hurricanes downed the Pittsburgh Penguins in the shootout on Tuesday night. To celebrate, the Funnest Team In The League™ went on a Duck Hunt. It’s time for another Storm Surge!

Captain Justin Williams, 37, scored his 22nd goal of the season to force overtime. Ex-Flames defender Dougie Hamilton scored the lone goal in the shootout to give the Canes the win. And then: silliness.

Following the win, Michael Ferland and Justin Faulk hunched down between the benches, in Pierre’s blind. The big screen played the title screen from the NES game Duck Hunt. The lights came up as the rest of the team threw their gloves in the air. Faulk and Ferland pantomimed rifle shots, then the players retrieved their gloves, smiles on their faces.

Duck Hunt follows curling, Evander Holyfield, limbo, bowling, and dominoes in the best new tradition from a very good Metro team. The Canes still sit in the Wild Card spot, but they’re now nipping at the heels of the Penguins.
