The Capitals have traveled to the other side of the state of Pennsylvania, where they will be facing off against the Philadelphia Flyers.
This will be the penultimate time these two teams face each other in the regular season. There is one more game between the two on March 24th, but the final game is in DC. So, I’m hoping for some quality Gritty content this evening.
There is a 7PM puck drop and you can stream the game live from any of your devices on the My Teams App. After racing home from my final meeting, I will have your recap.

Projected Lines
Thanks as ALWAYS to Isabelle at the Washington Post for the expected lines. Quick switch, Chandler Stephenson in for Nic Dowd. People are still screaming in Izzy’s mentions about Christian Djoos like she is the one who makes the decision. God bless her:
Ovechkin – Kuznetsov – Wilson
Vrana – Backstrom – Oshie
Hagelin – Eller – Connolly
Burakovsky – Stephenson – Boyd
Kempny – Carlson
Orlov – Niskanen
Orpik – Jensen
Holtby

Small, baby, casual reminder that Alex Ovechkin remains the greatest.
The @EdmontonOilers captain also became the 19th player in NHL history to reach 100 points in three or more consecutive seasons.

Storylines
- Devante Smith-Pelly is heating the heck up in Hershey. Hopefully all the chocolate at the park won’t melt! Whew!
- Ugh, I don’t want to talk about what happened last game, but if you MUST know…Chris has the morning after numbers for you. Enjoy.
- It’s officially a 20 goal season for Alex Chiasson. The Edmonton Oilers do not deserve him.
- I don’t want to completely alarm you, but there is some new Leni Oshie content. Sure, baby Backstrom is there too, but I said what I said.
- Alex Ovechkin sounds like he wants to stay with the Capitals because he doesn’t like too much change. Vastly different from me, I get bored with everything after two years. But I could get used to having Ovi forever and ever.
- I only ever want to listen to the National Anthem now if it is sung by small children. Thank you.
- Ilya Samsonov has a brand new lid all decked out with a Hershey Bears theme.
- John Carlson once hugged Nate Schmidt so hard it felt like being hit by a linebacker. I’ve had dreams like this before.
- Baby Eller! No, not the nickname I usually shout at Lars Eller, but there is actually a new baby named Eller! After that Game Five miracle :….)
- Two First Nations players will participate in first NHL game broadcast in Cree language. This is probably my all time favorite story.
Philly Prayer Candles
I mean, I’m not one to make grand observations off one photo on twitter….but it looks like the Gritty candles are going faster and I hope they sell out. Then the Bryce Harper ones are just there. Sad and lonely. For thirteen years.
