The Caps’ tough road trip has gone pretty okay so far with Thursday’s solid win over the San Jose Sharks. Sunday night finds the Caps in Orange County, visiting the Anaheim Ducks, who are in deep doodoo.

They are seven points out of a wild card spot and one point above DFL in the west. They fired their head coach a few weeks after saying they would not fire their head coach. Their GM is now their coach, and he doesn’t know how to coach. Their early-season success required huge play from goalie John Gibson, who is on IR now. They allow almost the same rate of high-danger chances as the Caps, but generate the third fewest in the league.
The Caps better get two points tonight.
Welcome to the most popular running feature on RMNB.
The Overwatch League began season two this weekend with a whole bunch of new teams and a domination metagame. It’s called GOATS, named after the lower-tier team that invented it. The teams don’t use any damage players, instead using just high-health tanks and healing support players for maximum survivability. Some people hate it, but I think it opens up all kinds of synergies and teamwork that are the essence of a game like Overwatch. Still, at the same time, I want it do die in a fire.
Your favorite team and mine, LA Valiant, dropped their first match to the Hangzhou Spark, as DC’s expansion team, the Washington Justice, got dominated by season one’s best team, New York Excelsior. Justice’s only map win might have been a fluke — NYXL’s damage player Libero accidentally killed himself while firing missiles into a tire swing.
Thank you for visiting the esports corner. We are never leaving.
