It’s the final game of the Capitals six-game homestand. They’ll hit the road for a tough six-game roadtrip after tonight, which is their longest of the season. But, for tonight, they’re still at home playing host to the LA Kings. Hopefully the boys can hit the road with a final win under their belt because, to be honest, they might really need it.
The game begins at 7 PM on NBCS Washington. It’s Monday, so you’re probably tired. If you need to go to bed and just stream the game on your devices, you can on the My Teams app. I’m your gal for the recap too. You can never get rid of me.

Storylines
- This one really stung, but Joel Ward has announced his retirement from professional hockey. He is the absolute greatest.
- On the topic of former Capitals players, Dustin Penner says he broke his neck in two places when he played for the Capitals.
- I hope Andre Burakovsky never changes. Ever.
- Ariana Grande got hit by hockey pucks twice. I mean, that’s gotta be lucky, right? Like when you get pooped on by a pigeon? Should hockey be the reason for Ariana’s success?
- “We got out” was TJ Oshie‘s instagram caption when he and Nic Dowd visited the Escape Room Live. Thank god they did, we need ’em.
- The Black Girls Hockey Club held their inaugural meeting at a Caps game! Brennin wrote an excellent piece on the club.
- Speaking of Brennin, she’s got another Misc you missed post from the Panthers game. Spoiler alert: the Cats are very bad at hugs, but it’s the thought that counts!
- “Avs legend Brooks Orpik“. Yeah, you read that correctly.
- Ilya Samsonov had his first English-language interview without a translator. His positive attitude is a real treat, tbh.
The Grammys
Don’t get me wrong, I love a good award show. But, I think it’s important to remember that you like what you like. Was the Scooby-Doo movie slammed by critics, but loved my millions? Yes, so who really cares about what “wins”. All that matters is that you like what you like. That being said…Brandi Carlile deserves everything. I saw her perform a few years ago and it straight up rocked me. Look up her performance from last night and listen to all her albums.
