Using projection technology, Capital One Arena develops new interactive donut game for intermissions 🍩

Capital One Arena has a new intermission game during the Capitals home games.

Picture a real-life game of Pac-Man, where players are donuts who have to run around the ice collecting coffee cups to score points. But be careful! Don’t get caught by the donut chomper and you’ll lose all yer points.

The game is played using an interactive projection onto the ice and is the first of its kind being rolled out by Dunkin’ Donuts.

Homestand high note: numbers for the morning after

The Washington Capitals sent fans home happy as they have finished their homestand out with a 6-4 victory over the Los Angeles Kings. The team now will hit the road for six straight games, starting in Columbus tonight.

The Kings out-shot the Caps 33 to 31.

Fan mistakingly throws hat onto ice after Evgeny Kuznetsov just misses out on hat trick

After registering four points, Evgeny Kuznetsov was rewarded by Washington Capitals head coach Todd Reirden with an opportunity to close out the game while the Los Angeles Kings had their goaltender pulled — their empty net yawning.

During that final third period shift, Kuznetsov had two goals and was looking to score his second career hat trick. Then, in the waning seconds, opportunity struck!

Kuznetsov stole the puck and from center ice he shot at the empty net… with 0 seconds left on the clock.

Reunited with Alex Ovechkin on the first line, Evgeny Kuznetsov dangles his way to second four-point game of the season

Evgeny Kuznetsov was reunited with Alex Ovechkin and Tom Wilson Monday against the Los Angeles Kings. The line paid instant dividends.

Kuzy registered points on four of the Caps’ six goals and resembled the guy who would have been a worthy Conn Smythe winner if selected during the Caps’ Stanley Cup Final run.

The perfect sendoff: Caps beat Kings 6-4

It’s over. We did it. The boys are hittin’ the road with a W.

Alex Ovechkin got the scoring started with a power play goal 3:07 into the game. Unfortunately, the Kings responded less than two minutes later to tie the game. Brett Connolly continued his hot streak with his fourth goal in four games. Once again, the Kings answered quickly with a power play goal. The game remained tied heading into the second period.

The second period started out pretty dang rough for the boys in red. They gave up a goal to Oscar Fantenberg in the first minute, but then…things shifted. Maybe we all switched seats, or prayed to the hockey gods, but the Capitals got the next THREE goals to recapture the lead. There was a goal from Evgeny Kuznetsov to tie the game back up at 3-3. Our sweet boy, Christian Djoos scored a wild goal. It’s his first goal of the season after a 61 game drought. Jakub Vrana brought the Capitals up one more before the end of the period.

A rebound dumped in by Copley from Austin Wagner, his second goal of the evening. Evgeny Kuznetsov put the final biscuit in the basket. It was truly a NIGHT for Kuzy.

Caps beat Kings 6-4!

Christian Djoos scores one-handed ending 61-game goalless streak

Christian Djoos made his grand return to the lineup Saturday after missing 24 games due to a thigh injury and surgery for compartment syndrome.

Djoos wasted no time getting back in the scoresheet, tallying his first goal since [blows off dust from sports almanac] December 30, 2017 — a 61-game goalless streak.

He scored one-handed.

I’m serious. You have to see this.

Caps vs Kings pregame: Homestand finale

It’s the final game of the Capitals six-game homestand. They’ll hit the road for a tough six-game roadtrip after tonight, which is their longest of the season. But, for tonight, they’re still at home playing host to the LA Kings. Hopefully the boys can hit the road with a final win under their belt because, to be honest, they might really need it.

The game begins at 7 PM on NBCS Washington. It’s Monday, so you’re probably tired. If you need to go to bed and just stream the game on your devices, you can on the My Teams app. I’m your gal for the recap too. You can never get rid of me.
