The perfect sendoff: Caps beat Kings 6-4

It’s over. We did it. The boys are hittin’ the road with a W.

Alex Ovechkin got the scoring started with a power play goal 3:07 into the game. Unfortunately, the Kings responded less than two minutes later to tie the game. Brett Connolly continued his hot streak with his fourth goal in four games. Once again, the Kings answered quickly with a power play goal. The game remained tied heading into the second period.

The second period started out pretty dang rough for the boys in red. They gave up a goal to Oscar Fantenberg in the first minute, but then…things shifted. Maybe we all switched seats, or prayed to the hockey gods, but the Capitals got the next THREE goals to recapture the lead. There was a goal from Evgeny Kuznetsov to tie the game back up at 3-3. Our sweet boy, Christian Djoos scored a wild goal. It’s his first goal of the season after a 61 game drought. Jakub Vrana brought the Capitals up one more before the end of the period.

A rebound dumped in by Copley from Austin Wagner, his second goal of the evening. Evgeny Kuznetsov put the final biscuit in the basket. It was truly a NIGHT for Kuzy.

    Caps beat Kings 6-4!

    • Brett Connolly scored his 30th point, and the 13th goal, of the season. This is the first time in his career that he has reached the 30th point mark.
    • The Djoos is extremely loose. Christian Djoos recorded his first goal of the season. His last goal took place December 30th, 2017. Nicky knew it was coming:

did backstrom lose a bet? or maybe he *won* a bet? or–did DJOOS win a bet? acutally scratch that did ANDRE win? what is: happening here. pic.twitter.com/5OCz1INIM8

    • Speaking of Christian Djoos he is currently -15 5v5 shot attempt differential.
    • We are so close to celebratin’ TJ Oshie‘s 500th career point! After his two assists tonight, he is at 497. He has 203 goals and 294 assists.
    • The 3rd pair and second line were easily the most roughed up.
    • Evgeny Kuznetsov has been heating up too! He had four points this evening to tie the game up 3-3 and then bring the Caps up 6-4. He now has points in four straight games. The man is en FUEGO.
    • Another night, another record for Alex Ovechkin. He passed Rod Brind’Amour for 48th place in NHL history with two points tonight to reach 1,185 for his career.
    • Matt Niskanen wasn’t on for a Kings high danger chance. Matt Niskanen and Dmitry Orlov were very good.
    • All brown errythang for the broadcastin’ boys:
