Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to one of the greatest nights of the season. The Washington Capitals are holding their annual Halloween Party at the Russian restaurant Mari Vanna.
Technically, Halloween is this Wednesday, but since the Capitals will conclude their four-game road trip in Montreal Thursday night, they decided to hold the jamboree this evening. The team, perhaps strategically, also made Monday an off day.
This year’s costumes are awesome once again. Let’s review!
The Russian machine is a sexy fireman, which makes sense because someone has to put out that fire during his hot stick celebration.
Kuzy was a boxer, perhaps in honor of fellow Chelyabinsk native Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev.
The Oshies and Connollys dressed in a 90s theme. TJ and Lauren wear designer clothes from Guess. The Osh Babe is holding Pokemon cards. Meanwhile, Brett Connolly, wearing a solo jazz cup patterned shirt and a pink hat, proudly holds up a corded phone. Katrina Connolly clutches a Furbie and a disposable film camera. Bravo.
Chandler Stephenson may be one of the quieter players on the team, but his Halloween costume is anything but boring. Lil Steve dressed up as the Grinch — like full green paint and everything. His girlfriend Tasha Maltman is Cindy Lou. Wow, wow, wow.
The Holtbys are dressed up as the new version of A Star is Born. Braden’s wife Brandi tweeted the photo out with the music lyrics “Tell me something boy, aren’t you tired tryin’ to fill that void” from the song “Shallow.”
Dmitry Orlov and his wife Varvara are, I think, Alice and Wonderland characters. You nailed the bunny pose, Dima!
The Swedish duo is dressed like 19th-century gangsters from the Netflix show Peaky Blinders. I would have never thought Burakovsky and Djoos were into British historical dramas, but you learn something new everyday. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Capitals assistant athletic trainer Mike Harrington is also in the photo.
John Carlson and his wife Gina went to the party dressed as pirates, which I guess is appropriate considering all the treasure Carly got over the offseason.
The three Czechs dressed up as players from Average Joe’s, a nod to the movie Dodgeball.
Nathan Walker has graduated from being something Australia related (kangaroo) to being a Oompa Loompa this year.
Brooks Orpik is a ski bro from Jackson Hole, Wyoming for some reason.
The Capitals backup goaltender dressed as Elf.
The Capitals depth center dressed as the team’s former head coach, Barry Trotz.
Tom Wilson and girlfriend Taylor Pischke dressed as characters from Sandlot, Squints and Wendy Peffercorn.
Russian Machine Never Breaks is not associated with the Washington Capitals; Monumental Sports, the NHL, or its properties. Not even a little bit.
