It’s that time o’ the year again, boys and ghouls and babes: Caps Halloween is upon us. Instead of rating da boys on their Corsi and Fenwick or whatever, we will now rate them using the eye test. For their costumes.
After extensive research and focus group feedback, we have divided the costume criteria into three categories: Party Vibes, Arts And Crafts, and Unproblematicness.

One of the highlights from the Capitals’ annual Halloween party Sunday night was a quick Instagram video from Alex Ovechkin showing that centerman Travis Boyd attended in costume as former head coach Barry Trotz.
The costume, which featured Boyd sporting a bald cap, goatee, and some extra padding around the midsection, seemed all in good fun. Even so, Boyd told the media on Tuesday that he hoped Trotz didn’t see it.
They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
If that statement is true, then former Capitals head coach Barry Trotz should be impressed with Travis Boyd’s Halloween costume as the former coach.

The Washington Capitals held their annual Halloween Party Sunday night at Mari Vanna. There was food, drinks, and later, as the clock turned towards midnight, karaoke.
While the players’ costumes were great, their singing left a lot to be desired.
One eternal bright spot was when the team, mostly fireman Alex Ovechkin, scream-shouted “We Are The Champions” together. Nastya Ovechkina has your blessed video.
The Washington Capitals Halloween Party is quickly approaching midnight and the celebration has taken what I can only call a wonderful turn. Just like last year, players are rocking the mic and doing karaoke.
Usually, this is where we document all the horrible singing, and, yes, we’ll definitely do that (Update: here it is), but I first want to point you to these Instagram videos of Evgeny Kuznetsov rapping.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to one of the greatest nights of the season. The Washington Capitals are holding their annual Halloween Party at the Russian restaurant Mari Vanna.
Technically, Halloween is this Wednesday, but since the Capitals will conclude their four-game road trip in Montreal Thursday night, they decided to hold the jamboree this evening. The team, perhaps strategically, also made Monday an off day.
This year’s costumes are awesome once again. Let’s review!

The Washington Capitals like to keep things close to the vest, not wanting to divulge information that could give their opponents any advantage — or laughs apparently.
After the team’s practice Tuesday morning at Kettler Capitals Iceplex, reporters worked doggedly to get the scoop of the day: a full account of the team’s annual Halloween party Monday night.
Pictures of the event were curiously limited this year, as most players’ social media accounts fell silent. Some images, however, did find their way on the Internet, including one of a person dressed in a kangaroo costume posted by Nathan Walker‘s fiancée. The following morning, Walker, the first Australian to play in the NHL, revealed that he was the giant anthropomorphic marsupial at the party.
“I think there’s only one explanation,” Walker said when asked how he came up with the idea. “I just thought it suited the party.”

The Caps Halloween Party has been a trip and now we’re three posts deep. First, we showed you most of the players’ costumes. Second, we presented you with video of rookie Zach Sanford (dressed as Dog The Bounty Hunter) singing Sweet Caroline and receiving back-up vocals from the rest of the team.
Now Alex Ovechkin just rocked the mic and did some karaoke. I’d say he sang a song, but it was more off-pitch word-yelling than anything else.
The Washington Capitals are hosting their Halloween Party tonight — see all the costumes here — and Alex Ovechkin just posted something ridiculous on his Instagram page. It’s a video of Salem, Massachusetts native Zach Sanford singing, or maybe I should say butchering, the Neil Diamond classic Sweet Caroline.
I must note that Sanford is dressed up as Dog The Bounty Hunter. He also got support with the backing vocals from the other Capitals players.
Sunday night, Capitals players held their annual Halloween Party at the Mari Vanna restaurant in Washington DC. The costumes were fantastic.
Superstar Alex Ovechkin slicked back his hair and put on a prisoner costume. His wife Nastya, who I’m guessing was his captor, dressed up as a police officer, potentially giving us an inside look into who truly wears the pants in that relationship. Meanwhile #CapsNeighbors Tom Wilson and Andre Burakovsky dressed up as stepbrothers and TJ Oshie and his wife Lauren were Mr. and Mrs Smith… with a twist.
