It is time. Hockey season is finally back and for the Washington Capitals, it’s time to get back down to business to defend their Stanley Cup title.
But first, we have one more celebration as their championship banner gets raised to the Capital One Arena rafters on October 3.
Heading downtown October 3rd to Rock the Red? Here’s everything you need to know.
Festivities kick off at 4 pm for the Rock the Red Carpet event. The 2018-19 roster, along with select alumni and mascots, will arrive in style and walk a red carpet to take photos & sign autographs with fans. For more details, click here.
Doors to Capital One Arena open at 6:00 pm. For Capital One cardholders, you can enter via a special exclusive entrance located on 6th Street 15 minutes earlier, at 5:45 pm.
For those not attending the game, the team, along with Mayor Muriel Bowser’s office, will be hosting an outdoor viewing party on the G Street video board above the McDonald’s outside Capital One Arena starting at 6:30 pm. Click here for more information, including street closures and parking restrictions.
The main pre-game event of the night is the hotly anticipated Stanley Cup Banner Raising. The ceremony is expected to start around 7:15 pm, so fans are encouraged to arrive early and be in their seats prior to 7:15 pm.
All fans in attendance will receive a replica Stanley Cup championship banner as a giveaway upon leaving the game, starting during the 3rd period.
The team is encouraging fans to take Metro, and to celebrate responsibly. This is going to be historic night in Washington, let’s all do our part to make it as memorable as possible!
